American Tea

Tea played an important role in American history.
British people brought tea to America and tried to tax it.
Americans did not want to pay a high tax to Britain,so they went to war and America became a new country.
And for hot drinks, even today, Americans prefer coffee.
Americans throw British tea off the ships, because they don’t want to pay tax.
Iced Tea
One kind of tea that is still very popular in America is iced tea. There are 2 types:
1.Sweet iced tea
A.Tea is brewed at double strength.
B.Sweetened with Sugar or corn syrup.
C.Especially popular in the South.
2.Sun tea
A.Put tea bags in tap water, and put it outside in the sun for 2-4 hours.
B.Or, keep it the tea bags in tap water in your kitchen, overnight.

Teatime snacks
People eat cakes, cookies or crackers with tea. In the Southern US people often eat cornbread, which is made from dried ground corn with their iced tea.
