have many hobbies. When I was just a baby, the Apollo missions took
the astronauts to the moon for the first time. I can only remember that
my parents and other adults were very excited. So, I wanted to know what
they were so excited about. When I got older, I studied a lot about
space travel. One of my hobbies today is to study about space travel.
The missions to the moon were very exciting, but they happened many,
many years ago now. Many intelligent men got together and really thought
carefully about how to get a person to the moon, and then get him back
safely to the earth. It is an amazing story. The way they did it is also
amazing.
There are many, many books about the missions to the moon. My hobby is
to collect books written by astronauts. I have a big collection. But, if
you want to know about this story, I have a recommendation. Please watch
the movie: Apollo 13. It is a very good movie about one trip to the
moon. This trip to the moon was disastrous. The men did not land on the
moon. But, if you watch this movie, you can learn a lot about the
amazing journey, and how the first men got to the moon. And, it is a
very good movie, too.

One of my other hobbies is also about space. I like to watch the stars.
I usually say, “My hobby is stargazing.” If the sky is clear, I look up
every night to see the stars. I have a nice telescope, and it is good.
But, I don’t use it very often. Mostly, I just like to look at the stars
with my own eyes. Takamatsu is not too big of a city, so the stars are
not too dark to see. One of my favorite places to look at the stars is
on the Takamatsu University campus.
Here is a picture that I took this winter. As I was leaving the Hon Kan
building one night, I looked up and noticed that the stars were really
bright. In the winter, the air is very clear. So, the starts can be very
bright. I grabbed my camera out of my car. I also took my tripod. I took
this picture looking over the Hon Kan building. The constellation Orion
is on the left side of this photo. Orion is actually a constellation
from the summer hemisphere. You don’t need a telescope, and you don’t
need a very special camera to take good pictures. (R.T. Williams)
